Painted alla prima on site. This is one of my most popular paintings. That is I believe due to the many qualities it includes. Besides of its eternal freshness, pleasing composition, perspective, texture, movement, rhythm and vibration this piece responds to a multi aspects dichotomy, opposing the horizontality of nature to the verticality of human figures, the cool hues of nature verses the warmth of the figures expressed by an estival, simple and joyful contrast and complementarity of blue and orange, the opposition of water’s movement to earth’s stability as well as the implied stability of the focal point verses the movement all around it. This plus many other impressions of duality such as figures and shadows, wet verses dry sand etc...
